The regular season, which runs from mid November to the end of February, is characterized by weekly Wednesday night meetings, save for a break over the Christmas holidays. In addition, there are as many as four Saturday night gatherings which include members and their wives or associates. One of these includes the President's reception, a special evening affair celebrated a day or two following New Years.
Post Seasonal Events
During the month of March (or possibly within the regular season) a tramp is organized for members, families and friends of the club. This weekend event which is always held on a Saturday, is undertaken in the countryside outside the city.
Also during the month of March or early April, a sugar-on-snow party is convened at the clubhouse. Like the tramp, it is a family affair to which friends of the club are also invited. Besides the sugar-on-snow, there are other treats available which are common to events of this nature, such as the traditional coffee and donuts, pickles, peanuts, and the like.
Annual Garage Sale
Every year around the first of June, the club hosts a large indoor garage sale in its clubhouse, and outdoors as well, weather permitting. The sale is based on the donation of items from club members, their familes as well as the community at large, the proceeds of which go to cover the overhead costs of maintaining the clubhouse and grounds. Residue items are, in turn, donated to local charitable organizations or religious groups. Initiated in 2006, this annual event has evolved into one of the largest sales in the city.
Each September a fall barbecue is held at the clubhouse with the traditional fare of hamburgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob and salads. The dessert menu at this event consists of ice cream with a number of homemade toppings. This family event provides members the opportunity of getting reacquainted after the summer break.
As a prelude to the regular season, members congregate in September to plan for the upcoming year. Themes and/or entertainment are assigned for each weekly meeting as well as the Saturday night gatherings. Dates for post season activities are set and individuals assigned responsibility for each.
Annual General Meeting
In October members meet to address all the official business related to the operation of the club, from financial considerations to the upkeep of the clubhouse and grounds. At the conclusion of the meeting the incoming president and new executive assume responsibility for the management of the club.
